Advertising with Safe Lists
Safe Lists are automated programs that allow you to email the members, if you agree to receive email from them. Safe List members are opt-in which means they agreed to have their email added to the list of addresses. Safe Lists are great way to avoid spam concerns and are affordable. Most are free to join and some have a small membership fee. Either way you go with Safe Lists, you have an excellent advertising option to get your product, service or program out there on the net.
The major advantage of using a Safe List is the elimination of spam concerns. Safe List members join for the very same reason, to get their products seen in the home and business of prospects. They are willing to view the other member's products to accomplish this at a reasonable price or time allotment.
Name recognition is a powerful tool for net sales. The more your product or service is seen, the more faith it encourages in those who may be interested. Safe Lists are a great way to accomplish creating name recognition for your program, product or service.
More and more, many are jumping on to the Safe List bandwagon and some enterprising folks have found ways to combine several Safe Lists to offer Safe List Blasts. These Blasts can reach thousands of safe lists and tens of thousand individual email boxes. Safe List Blasts usually do not require you to join, but do charge for the service. These prices can vary from $2.00 to $45.00. A Safe List Blast is where you will get what you pay for. The more Safe Lists to be reached, usually the more the cost of the Safe List Blast.
The downside to Safe Lists is the amount of email they can generate into your account. Be prepared to clear your email on a regular basis since it won't take very long for a Safe List to fill any email account.
The hundreds to thousands of emails landing in an email account a day can create a panic for the members of these programs. I have known many, including myself, to delete pages of unseen emails, to clear an email account to an acceptable level. It is quite possible that your email could be one that is never seen by many members. This is the risk of using Safe Lists.
Let's face it. Advertising is a risky part of business. It is up to us as business owners to make our product one that everyone in our target market wants. There are things we can do to increase the probability our email will be viewed.
I went to my Yahoo Safe List email account and was in the process of removing a lot of email when I couldn't help notice a subject just as I hit the delete button. I actually went to the email trash because I absolutely had to see that email! That subject not only caught my attention, it got my interest. The subject that did this was “IF you read this you will be RICH!” As it turns out, it was not something I was interested in and was something I had seen before, but I did look. This is what we must accomplish when using Safe Lists.
Making the Subject reach out and grab the prospect is not easy. It takes a lot of thought. You know your product. You know the target market for your product. You know those little buzz-words that describe your product clearly, and peak the interest of your target market. If you are selling recipes, the words “scrumptious,” “delicious” and “flavorful” along with the name of the entrée would catch the eye of homemakers.
Don't be afraid to let your subject state clearly that you are excited about your product. Use those exclamation marks! Use QUOTES. Shout with all capital letters in strategically placed words. The catch to making a great subject line is keeping it as brief as possible. Try to keep it under seven words. Think about why you would buy your product and put that in your subject line.
After creating an eye catching, target market grabbing subject, you must move to the ad copy or body of your email. Often prospective advertisers will ask for assistance in writing their ad copy. When they do, I ask three questions before I put on my thinking cap. These questions are:
Why would you buy your product? (give three reasons)
What excites you most about your product? (give three things)
Why should I consider your product? (give three reasons)
Yes, I have had a lot of folks try to give me one-word answers to each question. It may not be easy to come up with three responses to each question, but try to find no less than two. You need more than one word to write ad copy. Let's get more specific:
What makes your product better than any other similar product?
Why do you want to sell your product?
How does your product benefit the buyer?
I hope you are getting a clearer picture of what is necessary in the ad copy. Remember, you are dealing with folks who are getting thousands of emails a day, so keep it brief. I have found for Safe Lists four or five lines is plenty for the ad copy.

Don't worry about being grammatically correct. Get the information in the ad copy as completely and clearly as possible in the least amount of words. Let your link finish the job of selling for you. I can assure you, as a safe list member, it will be greatly appreciated.
